ENDHIRAN - mixture of Bicentennial Man, I Robot and others :)

Well, first of all Hats off to Rajini Kanth for a good performance, considering his age ...

Shankar has tried to reach every possible indian by including sentiments, emotions with action packed stunts. Good move & good time pass movie.

Now to me I felt it was more of taking the stuff from movies like Bicentennial Man & I,Robot.

"Bicentennial Man" is a 1999 Academy-Award nominated movie ( Its a drama & not a Action Movie).

It's a science fiction film starring Robin Williams based on the novel by Isaac Asimov.

It was directed by Chris Columbus. In this movie, a robot is created but with some malfunction.

The Robot has peculiar positronic systems that makes it a Man slowly. The plot explores issues & touches topics like Love, Affection, Freedom, Prejudice, Maturity and atlast death.

It's a drama so obviously its a very slow movie & stretches for close to 3 hours which makes few people feel like Boring.

We are used to seeing fast paced movies so it is surely a slow movie, but the concept is very good.

I think Shankar tried to take that concept of "how a robot tries to find his innerself and realises that he too can do all that we humans do".

On the other hand, the second half where the robot tries to clone itself, take control over the public ...to me they were in some context taken from the movie "I Robot" where Will Smith does all the action.

I, Robot is a action packed movie released in 2004 & was directed by Alex Proyas. It was also sporadically based on on Isaac Asimov's short-story collections only.

Its about a futuristic concept, somewhere in USA (Chicago) around 2035, where the robots will be used as maid servants for all household and office works - pretty similar to our new intel i5 core processor advertisement where a robot will serve coffee / snacks to its employees :)

However it tries to overpower humans & take control...atlast our hero saves the world by reprogramming them :)
--------------------------------------

"Taking" stories or in our Indian Directors words - Inspired by Hollywood movies is not new to us. But seldom will any indian director accept that he has been inspired from that english movie.

You remember Rajini Kanth's yester year movies like:
Sattam Oru Irutarai - just to name is an indian version of "Death Wish" series & movies like "10 to Midnight".

Director : Chandrasekar (our Illaya Thalapathy - Vijay's father) has generously  xeroxed even the dialogues from movies acted by Charles Bronson.

Even latest movies like " Munna Bhai MBBS" were all indian version of Patch Adams where Robin Williams has done the lead role.

Hey I think we are deviating from the main topic. Coming back:

Enthiran - a tamil movie with hollywood effects :)
Watch it !!
