Halloween Fall Festival–Tucson

Halloween is a holiday that's celebrated annually on the night of October 31 every year.

Although it is celebrated in a grand fashion in US, It has its origin in Ireland !!

It’s basically a fun time & people celebrated in a variety of ways…. ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, "haunted house" tours, carving pumpkins

For kids à they go for “trick-or-treating” … get chocolates !!

The word "Halloween," actually has its origins in the Catholic Church. It comes from a contracted corruption of All Hallows Eve. November 1, "All Hollows Day" (or "All Saints Day"), is a Catholic day of observance in honor of saints.

clip_image002
But, in the 5th century BC, in Celtic Ireland, summer officially ended on October 31. The holiday was called Samhain (sow-en), the Celtic New year.

One story says that, on that day, the disembodied spirits of all those who had died throughout the preceding year would come back in search of living bodies to possess for the next year. It was believed to be their only hope for the afterlife. The Celts believed all laws of space and time were suspended during this time, allowing the spirit world to intermingle with the living.

clip_image004

Naturally, the still-living did not want to be possessed. So on the night of October 31, villagers would extinguish the fires in their homes, to make them cold and undesirable. They would then dress up in all manner of ghoulish costumes and noisily parade around the neighborhood, being as destructive as possible in order to frighten away spirits looking for bodies to possess.

clip_image006

Probably a better explanation of why the Celts extinguished their fires was not to discourage spirit possession, but so that all the Celtic tribes could relight their fires from a common source, the Druidic fire that was kept burning in the Middle of Ireland, at Usinach.

Some accounts tell of how the Celts would burn someone at the stake who was thought to have already been possessed, as sort of a lesson to the spirits. Other accounts of Celtic history debunk these stories as myth.

The Romans adopted the Celtic practices as their own. But in the first century AD, Samhain was assimilated into celebrations of some of the other Roman traditions that took place in October, such as their day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple, which might explain the origin of our modern tradition of bobbing for apples on Halloween.

clip_image008

In Greek mythology, goddesses of the underworld were often used to invoke the Samhain. Popular Greek Goddess costumes portray Hecate and Medusa. Hecate was the most favored goddess by Zeus, and wandered the emptiness between the worlds of life and death looking for souls of the dead.

Both were considered serpent goddesses, and their ancient dark legends spawned myths such as vampires, who fed off the living using venom and snake-like fangs. Ritualistic dress includes snake adornments and three headed masks. Today, Hecate is often referred to as the goddess of witches.

The thrust of the practices also changed over time to become more ritualized. As belief in spirit possession waned, the practice of dressing up like hobgoblins, ghosts, and witches took on a more ceremonial role.

clip_image010
The custom of Halloween was brought to America in the 1840's by Irish immigrants fleeing their country's potato famine. At that time, the favorite pranks in New England included tipping over outhouses and unhinging fence gates.

The custom of trick-or-treating is thought to have originated not with the Irish Celts, but with a ninth-century European custom called souling. On November 2, All Souls Day, early Christians would walk from village to village begging for "soul cakes," made out of square pieces of bread with currants. The more soul cakes the beggars would receive, the more prayers they would promise to say on behalf of the dead relatives of the donors. At the time, it was believed that the dead remained in limbo for a time after death, and that prayer, even by strangers, could expedite a soul's passage to heaven.

clip_image012

The Jack-o-lantern custom probably comes from Irish folklore. As the tale is told, a man named Jack, who was notorious as a drunkard and trickster, tricked Satan into climbing a tree. Jack then carved an image of a cross in the tree's trunk, trapping the devil up the tree. Jack made a deal with the devil that, if he would never tempt him again, he would promise to let him down the tree.

According to the folk tale, after Jack died, he was denied entrance to Heaven because of his evil ways, but he was also denied access to Hell because he had tricked the devil. Instead, the devil gave him a single ember to light his way through the frigid darkness. The ember was placed inside a hollowed-out turnip to keep it glowing longer.

clip_image014

The Irish used turnips as their "Jack's lanterns" originally. But when the immigrants came to America, they found that pumpkins were far more plentiful than turnips. So the Jack-O-Lantern in America was a hollowed-out pumpkin, lit with an ember.

So, although some cults may have adopted Halloween as their favorite "holiday," the day itself did not grow out of evil practices. It grew out of the rituals of Celts celebrating a new year, and out of Medieval prayer rituals of Europeans. And today, even many churches have Halloween parties or pumpkin carving events for the kids. After all, the day itself is only as evil as one cares to make it.

Investment Options

Most of my blog readers are either in their 30's or 40th, so at this age, some of the most important things we would like to concentrate are:

a. Good future for our kids Education

b. Retirement money

c. Start saving for Daughter's wedding

d. House of our own

e. Vehicle of our own - a car indeed. Bike is a household stuff now

For all the above, there is a common things to do: INVEST.

So lets discuss about Investments. Some of the above can be regarded as short term profits while other like kids, marriage - remarriage :) can be considered long term goals.

The first step towards investing in India is to clearly evaluate individual requirements for cash, the capacity to invest without being frugal, guts to take calculated risks

Some of the select few Investment Options in India are like:

Real Estate : HOT HOT HOT. Its booming like hell these days.

Buy land, apartment or a independent house....its all worth. how to buy, where to buy and why to buy - lets discuss that separately.
---------------------------

Mutual Funds: Big banks like SBI, ICICI,  HDFC, Kotak....collect money from investors like us & then they invest it on the share market. here we are sort of isolated from all the fancy stuff...the big companies do all the calculations...experience to increase the value of the money.

--------------------------------------
Gold Deposit Scheme: its a 100% safe investment as they are regulated by none other than SBI.

We can deposit invest minimum of 200 gm in exchange for gold bonds & hold a tariff free rate of interest of 3% - 4% on the basis of the period of the bond varying with a lock in period of 3 to 7 years. I have not invested in it though :(

Here the return can be got by cash or by gold :)

------------------------------------

Bank Fixed Deposits (FD) - SAFEST but SLOW return.

These days, the banks are trying to attract investors with many many goodies for opening a FD... FD generally accrues 8.5% of yearly profits, depending on the bank's tenure and guidelines,

However I would suggest depositing in a Government or Nationalised bank rather than some unpopular private bank which promises higher rate of interest. Considering the Nationalised banks, it is the most sought after and safe investment alternative.

The minimum tenure of FD is 15 days and maximum tenure is 5 years and above. Senior citizens are entitled for exclusive rate of interest on Fixed Deposits.
---------------------------------

LIC policies: I believe IRDA has made some regulation where by LIC is in no way different from ICICI Prudential or HDFC or....

But, LIC has been in insurance & has so much of cash flow that we still can trust it with a blindfold.

Some of the features apart from being an investment is that it risk free - from the volatile stock exchange..

Today we haveSome of the popular Insurance policies like Housing, Life, Health & Automobile policies.

There are dozens of companies but I would certainly prefer LIC, SBI Life among these ICICI Prudential, Bajaj Allianz, Birla Sunlife, HDFC Standard Life, Reliance Life, Max NewYork Life, Metlife, Tata AIG, Kotak Mahindra Life, ING Life Insurance, etc.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Stock Market: Its RISKY though can offer better / higher profits. Got to follow the pulse of market wisely so that you dont burn your fingers... Better stay away if you are a heart patient or have a weak heart as you got to take lots of risk.

-----------------------------------------

NSC  : National Saving Certificate (NSC) is subsidized & the money locked for 6 years at an interest rate of 8%. The best part of NSC is, investment in this category falls under Section 80C of IT Act, so the profit accrued by you can be valid for tax deduction up to Rs 1, 00,000

So go for this investment when you are sure that you DONOT need this money for that may years...

You can dump as much money as you would like to...as there are no upper limit in this investment option  National Saving Certificate .

------------------------------------------------

Public Provident Fund (PPF) : Just like NSC, Public Provident Fund (PPF) can also be 100% trustworty as it is give by Indian Govt.

But here the interest rate is 8% which is evaluated yearly with a lock in tenure of maximum 15 years.

Here there is an upper ceiling to invest - i think around 70K. Its pretty easy to open a PPF at our post office here too, the investment falls under Section 80C of IT Act so we could gain income tax deduction of up to Rs 1, 00,000.
--------------------------------------------------
Equity: they too are little risky that's what i know.

ENDHIRAN - mixture of Bicentennial Man, I Robot and others :)

Well, first of all Hats off to Rajini Kanth for a good performance, considering his age ...

Shankar has tried to reach every possible indian by including sentiments, emotions with action packed stunts. Good move & good time pass movie.

Now to me I felt it was more of taking the stuff from movies like Bicentennial Man & I,Robot.

"Bicentennial Man" is a 1999 Academy-Award nominated movie ( Its a drama & not a Action Movie).

It's a science fiction film starring Robin Williams based on the novel by Isaac Asimov.

It was directed by Chris Columbus. In this movie, a robot is created but with some malfunction.

The Robot has peculiar positronic systems that makes it a Man slowly. The plot explores issues & touches topics like Love, Affection, Freedom, Prejudice, Maturity and atlast death.

It's a drama so obviously its a very slow movie & stretches for close to 3 hours which makes few people feel like Boring.

We are used to seeing fast paced movies so it is surely a slow movie, but the concept is very good.

I think Shankar tried to take that concept of "how a robot tries to find his innerself and realises that he too can do all that we humans do".

On the other hand, the second half where the robot tries to clone itself, take control over the public ...to me they were in some context taken from the movie "I Robot" where Will Smith does all the action.

I, Robot is a action packed movie released in 2004 & was directed by Alex Proyas. It was also sporadically based on on Isaac Asimov's short-story collections only.

Its about a futuristic concept, somewhere in USA (Chicago) around 2035, where the robots will be used as maid servants for all household and office works - pretty similar to our new intel i5 core processor advertisement where a robot will serve coffee / snacks to its employees :)

However it tries to overpower humans & take control...atlast our hero saves the world by reprogramming them :)
--------------------------------------

"Taking" stories or in our Indian Directors words - Inspired by Hollywood movies is not new to us. But seldom will any indian director accept that he has been inspired from that english movie.

You remember Rajini Kanth's yester year movies like:
Sattam Oru Irutarai - just to name is an indian version of "Death Wish" series & movies like "10 to Midnight".

Director : Chandrasekar (our Illaya Thalapathy - Vijay's father) has generously  xeroxed even the dialogues from movies acted by Charles Bronson.

Even latest movies like " Munna Bhai MBBS" were all indian version of Patch Adams where Robin Williams has done the lead role.

Hey I think we are deviating from the main topic. Coming back:

Enthiran - a tamil movie with hollywood effects :)
Watch it !!

Namas Shivaya Vazha

“Namas shivaya vazhga, Nadhan thal vazhga immaippozhuduhum ennenjil ninggadhan thal vazhga”

Hear these lines from Maestro Illayaraja's Thiruvasagam & I am sure you'll be mesmerised beyond any words.

Although I did NOT actually understand the lines or lyrics, it set a fire inside me to understand the meaning.

From what I understand by going through various forums & articles, I guess my understanding is right:

Long live Lord’s name ‘namasivaya’!
Long live lord’s feet!
Long live the lord’s feet that do not leave my heart even for a moment!).

I'm a just a ordinary man
how can I reach for something holy? ...

So many forms I must wear!
So many lives I must bear!
Grass and shrub and stone and tree!
Worm and bird and beast and demon
heaven the sky and turn the earth
how long till I'm fin'ly worthy?...

Hail! Hail! ...

A chat with Dr.Devi Shetty @ Narayana Hrudayalaya

Qn: What are the thumb rules for a layman to take care of his heart ?

Ans:
1. Diet - Less of carbohydrate, more of protein, less oil
2. Exercise - Half an hour's walk, at least five days a week; avoid lifts and avoid sitting for a longtime
3. Quit smoking
4. Control weight
5. Control blood pressure and sugar

Qn: Is eating non-veg food (fish) good for the heart?

Ans: No

Qn: It's still a grave shock to hear that some apparently healthy person

gets a cardiac arrest. How do we understand it in perspective?

Ans: Walking is better than jogging since jogging leads to early fatigue and injury to joints .

Qn: You have done so much for the poor and needy. What has inspired you to do so?

Ans: Mother Theresa , who was my patient.

Qn: Can people with low blood pressure suffer heart diseases?

Ans: Extremely rare

Qn: Does cholesterol accumulates right from an early age
(I'm currently only 22) or do you have to worry about it only after you are above 30 years of age?

Ans: Cholesterol accumulates from childhood.

Qn: How do irregular eating habits affect the heart ?

Ans : No.

Qn: Can a person help himself during a heart attack (Because we see a lot of forwarded emails on this)?

Ans : Yes. Lie down comfortably and put an aspirin tablet of any description under the tongue and ask someone to take you to the nearest coronary care unit without any delay and do not wait for the ambulance since most of the time, the ambulance does not turn up.

Qn: Do, in any way, low white blood cells and low h

s if you are past the age of 30 ( once in six months recommended)...

Customer Service - a good story

No one can make you serve customers well. That's because great service is a choice.

Years ago, Harvey Mackay, told a wonderful story about a cab driver that proved this point. He was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab pulled up, the first thing Harvey noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for Harvey. He handed him a laminated card and said:

"I'm Wally, your driver. While I'm loading your bags in the trunk I'd like you to read my mission statement."

Taken aback, Harvey read the card. It said:  Wally's Mission Statement:

To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment. This blew Harvey away. Especially when he noticed that the inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean! As he slid behind the wheel, Wally said, "Would you like a cup of coffee? I have a thermos of regular and one of decaf."

Harvey said jokingly, "No, I'd prefer a soft drink."

Wally smiled and said, "No problem. I have a cooler up front with regular and Diet Coke, water and orange juice."

Almost stuttering, Harvey said, "I'll take a Diet Coke."

Handing him his drink, Wally said, "If you'd like something to read, I have The Wall Street Journal, Time, Sports Illustrated and USA Today."

As they were pulling away, Wally handed him another laminated card. "These are the stations I get and the music they play, if you'd like to listen to the radio."

And as if that weren't enough, Wally told Harvey that he had the air conditioning on and asked if the temperature was comfortable for him.   Then he advised Harvey of the best route to his destination for that time of day. He also let him know that he'd be happy to chat and tell him about some of the sights or, if Harvey preferred, to leave him with his own thoughts.

"Tell me, Wally," Harvey asked the driver, "have you always served customers like this?"

Wally smiled into the rearview mirror. "No, not always. In fact, it's only been in the last two years. My first five years driving, I spent most of my time complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do.

Then I heard the personal growth guru, Wayne Dyer, on the radio one day.   He had just written a book called You'll See It When You Believe It.

Dyer said that if you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you'll rarely disappoint yourself.

He said, `Stop complaining!  Differentiate yourself from your competition. Don't be a duck. Be an eagle.

Ducks quack and complain.
Eagles soar above the crowd.'"

"That hit me right between the eyes," said Wally. "Dyer was really talking about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I decided to change my attitude and become an eagle.

I looked around at the other cabs and their drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy.

So I decided to make some changes. I put in a few at a time. When my customers responded well, I did more."

"I take it that has paid off for you," Harvey said.

"It sure has," Wally replied. "My first year as an eagle, I doubled my income from the previous year. This year I'll probably quadruple it. You were lucky to get me today. I don't sit at cabstands anymore.

My customers call me for appointments on my cell phone or leave a message on my answering machine. If I can't pick them up myself, I get a reliable cabbie friend to do it and I take a piece of the action."

Wally was phenomenal. He was running a limo service out of a Yellow Cab. Harvey probably told that story to more than fifty cab drivers over the years, and only two took the idea and ran with it.

Whenever Harvey went  to their cities, he would give them a call. The rest of the drivers quacked like ducks and told him all the reasons they couldn't do any of what he was suggesting.

Johnny the Bagger and Wally the Cab Driver made a different choice. They decided to stop quacking like ducks and start soaring like eagles.

How about us ?
------------------------
Although things are changing back in India, I still see in very many places lack of interest.
For example: In a hotel where I requested the waiter to fetch  me a glass of water, he was never seen but I could guess from his face when the bill was presented. He expected a big tip :)

Guess what I did ?

For Working Class Labors - Dogs Life

A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog coming inside the shop.
He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices it has a note in its mouth. He takes the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please". The dog has money in its mouth, as well. The butcher looks inside and, there is a ten dollar note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth.

The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing; the dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then it waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way.

The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets in it. The butcher follows the dog into the bus. Then the dog shows a ticket which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor.
The butcher is nearly fainting at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus. The dog then sits near the driver's seat looking outside waiting for the bus stop to come. As soon as the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the conductor. Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop. It opens the big Iron Gate and rushes inside towards the door.

As it approaches the wooden door, the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him.
The butcher surprised with this, runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!" to which the Guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key."

*Moral of the story: You may continue to exceed onlooker's expectations but shall always fall short of the boss' expectations. It's dog's life after all.........*

Fuel - when to fill in your vehicles

Tips on Filling your Vehicles...

Well, I honestly DONOT know if it really works, as I always try to fill in my Car only after office hours as I consider personal relations more important than Fuel or MONEY.

You know, its good to take your family for a ride in the evenings, you get a chance to share about the day. Kids feel relaxed for having some time with us....blah blah blah...

Anyway, here we go:

ONLY BUY OR FILL UP YOUR CAR OR BIKE IN THE EARLY MORNING WHEN THE GROUND TEMPERATURE IS STILL COLD.

Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground.

The colder the ground, the denser the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening.... your litre is not exactly a litre.

In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products play an important role.

A 1degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

WHEN YOU'RE FILLING UP, DO NOT SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER OF THE NOZZLE TO A FAST MODE.

If you look, you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high.

In slow mode, you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created, while you are pumping.

All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour.

Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS IS TO FILL UP WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL.

The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank, the less air occupying its empty space.
Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof.

This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.

ANOTHER REMINDER, IF THERE IS A FUEL TRUCK PUMPING INTO THE STORAGE TANKS, WHEN YOU STOP TO BUY,
DO NOT FILL UP - most likely the petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hey remember, We have NOT discussed about the adulterated stuff. The petrol that arrives at the pump station itself may be contaminated by officials that may want a better profit :)

Remember, Shanmugam Manjunath an grad from IIT, was a marketing manager for the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) who was murdered for sealing a corrupt petrol station in UP.

I dont know when we Indians will wake up to stop such attrocities against corrupt officials, politicians....

Take My Breath Away

What a difference a sad event in someone's life makes.   GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died...)

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate?

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways
, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to
years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.. These are the days of
fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

George Carlin

When the school reopened,
And we settled in our new desks and benches!

When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books and notes!

When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, yet
managed to line up daily for the morning prayers.

We learnt writing with slates and pencils, and
Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips!

When we began drawing with crayons and evolved to
Color pencils and finally sketch pens!

When we started calculating first with tables and then with
Clarke's tables and advanced to Calculators and computers!

When we chased one another in the corridors in Intervals, and returned to the classrooms
Drenched in sweat!

When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors,Playgrounds, under the trees and even in cycle sheds!

When all the colors in the world, Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays!

When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table, Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!

When cricket was played with writing pads as bats, and Neckties and socks rolled into balls!

When few played "kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun, While others simply played "book cricket" in the Confines of classroom!

Of fights but no conspiracies, Of Competitions but seldom jealousy!
When we used to watch Live Cricket telecast, In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks!

When few rushed at 3:45 to "Conquer" window seats in our School bus!
While few others had "Big Fun", "peppermint",
"Kulfi", "milk ice!" and "sharbat!" at 4o Clock!

Gone are the days Of Sports Day, and the annual School Day,
And the one-month long preparations for them.

Gone are the days Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and Annual Exams, and the most enjoyed holidays after them!

Gone are the days Of tenth and twelfth standards, when
we spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!
We learnt,   We enjoyed,   We played,
We won,    We lost,    We laughed,
We cried,   We fought,  We thought.

With so much fun in them, so many friends, So much experience, all this and more!

Gone are the days When we used to talk for hours with our friends!
Now we don't have time to say a `Hi'!

Gone are the days When we played games on the road!
Now we Code on the road with laptop!

Gone are the days When we saw stars shining at Night!
Now we see stars when our code doesn't Work!

Gone are the days When we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!
Now we chat in chat rooms.....!

Gone are the days Where we studied just to pass!
Now we study to save our job!

Gone are the days Where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our hearts!!
Now we have the atm as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!

Gone are the days Where we shouted on the road!
Now we don't shout even at home

Gone are the days Where we got lectures from all!
Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....!!

Gone are the days But not the memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and Ever and ever and ever.....

Gone are the Days.... But still there are lot more Days to come in our Life!!
